| I have ancestors that fought to free the slaves. Only 6 percent of the american population ever owned slaves. To assume that the others, including the ancestors of those that fought to free the slaves, is the grossest form of reverse racism and retribution.
The U.S. has spent billions of dollars over the last 5 decades to provide greater opportunitites to minorities in the form of welfare, education grants, affirmative action and other federal programs. This is the honest equity that could be achieved under the consent of the nation. The current reparation scheme is merely a plot hatched to divide the last great nation, a nation where individual freedom and opportunity abound for those committed to working for it.
I will never pay, and I would be willing to fight to expel those that persist in trying to steal from my family the fruits of my hard work, even to my death. The insincereity of the movement in encapsulated in the suggestions By Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton that the monies should be paid to their organizations so that they can distibute them to the community.
It is all nothing more than a giant fraud given some credence by the sudden rush of the greedy lawyers that are persuing the legal stategy. It is time we demand of our Representatives a repudiation of this travesty by the passage of a law outlawing claims for reparations or damages against anyone other that the clearly defined estate of a documented slave-holder.
